Who am I…

Allyson Watson, Mental Health-Revolutionary, lives for modernizing Black Mental Health! A DC native, Allyson started her career as an evidenced-based community mental health therapist and program manager, in Southern Los Angeles California working with families of At-Risk Youth in placement.

Not long after President Barack Obama was elected, Allyson moved back to the DMV, to catch the Black Excellence energy spreading through the east coast. Continuing her work throughout the DMV, Allyson expanded her career in various leadership roles in Residential Treatment Centers; local Behavioral Health Government agencies; Inpatient—Psychiatric Hospitalization Care; Acute-Outpatient Behavioral Health; Individual, Family, and Group Therapy.

As a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, Allyson was fortunate enough to leave the workforce and start her Private Practice—Talk To Me DMV, LLC in 2021. Allyson, a reformed rebel, now had a cause! Bridging the gap around the “stigma of mental health” in Black communities.

At Talk To Me DMV, we transform the way we normalize our mental health; we acknowledge what we feel and experience in everyday expressions; and we focus on helping people unlock their hidden potential to redefine “Living Their Best Life”.

The mission for Talk To Me DMV is straightforward:

“Help people align themselves with what their soul signed up to do! Why? We only have one life to live; and we get to live it every day!”

Allyson received her bachelor’s in Communications/Minor in Criminal Justice from Mount Ida College in Boston MA—2005. She completed her Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy from Pepperdine University in Los Angeles CA—2008; and a Master’s in Public Administration from Johns Hopkins University in Washington DC—2017.
